Diabetes is a unique disease whose management and successful outcome is completely dependent on the knowledge and active involvement by the individual who has it. Not only does diabetes require the education and involvement of the patient and support people, but the creative and determined efforts of their highly trained health care professionals.

Take a Diabetes Health Risk Assessment

The Diabetes Education Center was established in 2003 to serve Southwest Virginians by offering education and management programs for diabetes, lipids, hypertension, weight management, and nutrition. We offer a weight management program that has been created expressly to address the unique weight-loss issues of diabetics. The program includes:

• Assessment
• Individualized meal planning
• Eating Away from Home
• Incorporating physician activity 
• Follow-up and weigh-in
