Genetic Testing-Hereditary Cancer Coordinator Program

If you have a personal or family history of cancer, you may qualify for genetic testing.

The Genetic Testing-Hereditary Cancer Coordinator, Leanne Keen, serves anyone who has a significant personal and/or family history of cancers. Surveillance and prevention are vital for anyone at a higher risk for hereditary cancers including breast, ovarian, colon, uterine, pancreatic prostate and any other digestive tract cancers.

Those at an elevated risk for hereditary cancers could benefit from determining what cancer risks they face and what prevention or early detection measures can be taken. In patients who already have a cancer diagnosis it could help determine treatments that will work better for them and additional cancer risks.

If you already know or suspect you may be at higher risk for hereditary cancers, such as breast cancer, you can be referred to Leanne by your healthcare provider.

Our Hereditary Cancer Coordinator can assist with the following:

• Gathering a personal health history and a 3-generation family history
• Discussing the risks and benefits of genetic testing
• Verifying genetic testing insurance benefits
• Scheduling and coordinating getting samples needed to complete genetic testing
• Communicating medical management recommendations included with the results from the third party genetic testing company
