Clinch Valley Health announced that Family Medicine physician Kenneth McVey, DO is joining Clinch Valley Physicians Associates and is welcoming new patients. Dr. Kenneth McVey is the grandson of the late Dr. James McVey who tended to generations of patients in the Richlands area for over 50 years.

“My grandfather was a family physician for approximately 50 years in town and my dad owned his own medical equipment company. The exposure I’ve had, through both my father’s business and my grandfather’s medical practice, has highlighted how medical care can significantly improve one’s quality of life,” said Dr. Kenneth McVey. “It’s very hard to go anywhere in Southwest Virginia without hearing stories of how my grandfather has helped someone. Simply put, my grandpa was and will always be my hero. The way he truly cared for others and put their health and happiness first will always inspire me. My goal since graduating high school in 2009 has been to return to Richlands and follow in my grandpa’s footsteps. It is the honor of a lifetime.”

Dr. McVey received his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Liberty University College of Osteopathic medicine (Lynchburg, VA) and received his Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience from King College (Bristol, TN). As a Family Medicine physician, Dr. McVey specializes in annual exams & wellness check-ups, sick visits, COPD, sports injuries, immunizations, blood pressure & diabetes as well as skin procedures. Dr. McVey will also manage his patients' care if they are hospitalized.
