Welcome Emily McClanahan, FNP

Clinch Valley Health announced that Buchanan County native Emily McClanahan, FNP has joined Clinch Valley Health’s team and is serving patients at Richlands Pulmonary and Breathing Center.

“We are thrilled to welcome Emily to our team of providers at Clinch Valley,” said Clinch Valley Health CEO Peter Mulkey. “Emily has worked at Clinch Valley Health in the ICU as a registered nurse. Her background combined with her extraordinary passion for her patients will certainly be a valuable addition to our team. We are excited to watch her grow and continue to provide high-quality care to our community.”

Emily is originally from the Oakwood, Virginia area. She has been in nursing for almost seven years with a background working in the Emergency Department and ICU. Her most recent role was serving as a Family Medicine Nurse Practitioner. Emily received her undergraduate degree and Master of Science in Nursing at King University in Bristol, TN. She loves spending time with her family and enjoying the outdoors as much as possible. Emily said, “I am excited to be coming back to Clinch Valley where I grew as a nurse working in the Intensive Care Department while completing my master’s degree. I am also looking forward to working in pulmonology, as well as the employment opportunity with Clinch Valley Health.”

Emily is working alongside Pulmonologist Sami Jawad, M.D.  She specializes in pneumonia, bronchitis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), chronic cough & sarcoidosis, asthma, lung disease, emphysema, and pneumoconiosis/black lung.
