Clinch Valley Health hosted The Southwest Virginia Healthcare Coalition as the SVHC staff travelled to Richlands to deliver the Hospital Incident Command System (HICS) Overview course.

Clinch Valley Health hosted The Southwest Virginia Healthcare Coalition as the SVHC staff travelled to Richlands to deliver the Hospital Incident Command System (HICS) Overview course. The 4-hour training program has been developed to provide a basic understanding of the Incident Command System framework and some key concepts and guiding principles to help with incident coordination & response for a hospital’s incident management/leadership team. The training also includes a group exercise in which participants get to “practice” standing up their Incident Command team as they work through a mini-tabletop exercise scenario together.  This training provided an excellent opportunity for Clinch Valley's leadership team to grasp the concepts of the ICS System and to better prepare them for future EOC activations at their facility.

Special thanks to Donna Ashby, Safety Officer and Security Support, for requesting and coordinating this invaluable training for 35 Clinch Valley leadership team members! The enthusiasm and interaction among the participants was great to see! Clinch Valley's team enjoyed this opportunity to engage with the SVHC's team throughout the training.
